Iron Man
November 23, 2008 – 2:47 pm oakesyIron is one of the suprises of the year, as when Marvel and Paramount announced this project, the sound of people laughing must have been ringing around the hills of Hollywood, as when you think of Iron Man in his comic book form, you think how can that subject matter convert itself to the big screen without being an abortion of a creation. To the credit of the boys at Marvel they came up with two master strokes that made Iron Man a potential mega franchise first was the hring of John Favreau as director (a strange choice as strange as it sounded at frst), as Favreau brings a sense of humour to the script whilst stopping the mega rich Tony Sark from becoming very annoying (as he so easily could havee been. The films greatest assest is the second stroke of genius, the casting of Robert Downey Jr as Stark, since his triumphant return to form in David Finchers excellent Zodiac the guy has taken it upon himself to out Depp Johnny Depp and make no mistake as good as Iron's specal effects are as good as the supporting cast are (notably Mrs Chris Martin as Pepper Potts) the story of the kidknapped billionaire turned crime fighter is the RDJ show from start to finish. The bigest down side of the movie is the fact that it is so obviously going to get a sequel that you get the feeling that there was more written for this adventure that is being kept back for the sequel(s), saying that though this installment deverves the praise that has come its way due to the fact that it didnt have the right to be decent nver mind a rip roaring blockbuster that showed Brian Singer that Superman Returns should have been better than the crap it was and that his X-Men movies were over-rated.If nothing else though see this movie to see that Downey is finally no longer a drugged up maniac and is actually the star now that he was born to be
Hancock
August 2, 2008 – 12:37 am ackyThis started off brilliantly, Will Smith's performance, character and whole screen presence gave me a real genuine excitement to see this film. Then about an hour in, it all went to shit. First of all I was thinking that he was going to run off with the wife, Which is not really the sort of topic for a family film. Breaking up families is harding pleasant viewing. But as the story unfolded, I just could not believe that Mr Smith agreed to star in the film. A Totally weak plot. Crap Ending.
A better plot, would have been after he gets his life in order he searches for answers to who and what he is, I like the idea of taking a knock to the head and gaining all these powers. A bit like the John Travolta film Phenomenon. He rediscovers his roots, has to rescue his mum or family from a massive natural disaster. Much better plot. With a film like this it's about the character, and the script tried to be to original and ended up shit.First Hour GTTB Rating : 10/10

July 28, 2008 – 6:42 pm ackyI really liked this film, in fact I thought it was ace. James played the nobody really well at the beginning. The transition to ass kicking assasin was good. Isn't it really cool to a british actor play somebody like this. I hear a sequel is in the works already.
Go see it.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

1) Shia LaBeouf (what the fuck type of name is that) , was just awful. Not the acting per say, the character. A James Dean wannabe with a pen knife. How can Indy spend a few hours with the dude and then go off on some adventure with him?. Crap Character.
2) Another piece of turd, is the swinging through the tree's bollock. Picture the scene, cars racing through the jungle, someone falls off the car into the jungle. The cars speeding away from you?, how we gonna catch them up? . Walk, Run? no swing through the trees. How totally shit.
3) Don't get my started on that Whole Spinning Alien crap at the end.
Overall, sack the story writer, they ruined a perfectly good opportunity to make a great film.

How they would behave and what they would do was quite well portrayed. The secret goverment group out to kill them, great enemies. I wonder if the sequel will have the NSA trying to recruit one of them? . Jumper 2 : David Rice is the new Jason Bourne with super powers. Ace :-)

Prison Break Seasons 1,2 and 3
March 19, 2008 – 9:12 am ackyThe marathon is finally over. I gotta get my life back now. I have watched Prison Break season 1 through to 3 back to back. I really hope there is a season 4, i really wanna see what Michael is capable in revenge mode. He has had a really interesting journey. A genius with a good moral compass, that has slowly seen the evil that people are capable of. Over the episodes he has turned into someone that can take life easily. Well it appears to be getting easy for him. But can he take it when it matters?. I hope we find out.
Thoughts for Season 4?.. Season 1 was all about the escape, season 2 was the run. Season 3 was the escape again ( under different circumstances) Season 4 should be all about the revenge on the company. Michael tracking down all the people in the company and exposing them. Right at the end,he finds out Sarah is still alive !. How I don't know ... but what a cool season that would be. I for one can't wait.
If you think Prison Break was a just a modern break out tv series, your wrong. The characters are awesome, there is double cross after double cross that somehow you don't see coming. Some you do, but whistler and alex at the end of season 3? .. I for one didn't see that one. Truly compelling TV.

Prison Break Series 1
March 9, 2008 – 10:30 am ackyI finished watching this last night, and could not help taking a peek at series 2. It was late and the remaining episodes kept me absolutely hooked. As Michael and his gang move into the a fugitive style story line. It's really good how the plot has twisted and turned. I have started watching Series 2, straight away. Lost and Stargate Atlantis can wait awhile. I have a bit of catching up todo.
